- Reopened IdleAire Truckstop Electrification Stations Pushes Total TSE to 30
- Convoy Solutions, LLC, is reopening the former IdleAire truckstop electrification (TSE) operations using the IdleAire equipment. Their announcement that 16 stations have been reopened brings the total of truckstop electrification stations to 30 with more expected reopenings to come. Other TSEs are operated by Shorepower, CabAire, and EnviroDock.

- Oct. 15 to Mark National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Odyssey Day
- More than 100 events across the country are scheduled to mark National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Odyssey Day, a biannual event organized by the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium. Typical events will feature alternative fuel vehicles and activities to educate the public about the value of these vehicles in reducing petroleum use.

- Preliminary 2011 Alt Fuel Vehicle List Available
- More than 90 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles are listed on the Preliminary MY 2011 Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Advanced Technology Vehicles spec sheet published by Clean Cities. The list will be updated throughout the fall season. Included are new vehicles such as the all-electric Nissan LEAF, the extended range Chevy Volt, the GMC Terrain FFV, and the Buick Regal FFV.

- Transportation Energy Data Book, Edition 29, Available from Oak Ridge National Lab
- Oak Ridge National Laboratory has released Edition 29 of the Transportation Energy Data Book (TEDB), a compendium of data on transportation with an emphasis on energy. The TEDB, first published in 1976, is designed for use as a desktop reference and is available as an electronic document. Hard copies may be requested from Stacy Davis at davissc@ornl.gov.

- Revised E85 Handbook Lists UL Certified Equipment
- The newly revised Handbook for Handling, Storing, and Dispensing E85, published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy, includes the current Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certified equipment list for E85 fuel dispensing. Check Appendix F for the complete list.

- New Argonne Documents Posted on AFDC
- Argonne National Laboratory has released two new transportation related reports. "Well-to-Wheels Analysis of Landfill Gas-Based Pathways and Their Addition to the GREET Model" discusses the size and scope of biomethane resources from landfills and the pathways by which those resources can be utilized as vehicle fuel. The report titled "Propane Vehicles: Status, Challenges, and Opportunities" presents an overview of propane fuel as a viable fuel alternative for use in U.S. vehicles.

- Resources and tools in Spanish have been added to the Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center. These include the Natural Gas Basics and What is Clean Cities? documents plus tools to increase your gas mileage and find and compare cars. Visit the Spanish Resources page and follow the links.

- Incentives and Laws Search Updated on the AFDC
- The Incentives & Laws section of the Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center has been streamlined to aid researchers. The Web site assists those who want to know more about federal and state incentives for the purchase of alternative fueled and advanced vehicles as well as laws impacting fuel efficiency, air quality, and vehicle idling.

- New Charts Added to Data, Analysis, and Trends
- New graphs added to the Data, Analysis, and Trends section of the Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center include the "U.S. Lifecycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Biofuels" and the "Carbon Intensity of Various Alternative Fuels in California." The Lifecycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions compare petroleum gasoline and diesel with corn, sugarcane, and switchgrass ethanol, corn butanol, soybean biodiesel and waste grease biodiesel. The graph of carbon intensity compares California reformulated gasoline with corn, sugarcane, and forest waste ethanol, compressed natural gas (CNG) and landfill CNG, hydrogen, and electricity.

- Guidance for Section 141 of EISA 2007 Released
- The Environmental Protection Agency has released final guidance for implementing Section 141 of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, which covers federal vehicle fleets and low greenhouse gas emitting vehicles. This document, which applies to federal agencies only, supports the goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by prohibiting federal agencies from acquiring light-duty motor vehicles and medium duty passenger vehicles (MDPVs) that are not low GHG-emitting vehicles.
